We all wish for him a wonderful ‘new’ beginning as he moves on to Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Sturgeon Falls.

Parish Pastoral Advisory Council is a group of parishioners who oversee matters of pastoral concern and provide lay leadership in matters that concern the parish. They also promote parish involvement with other charitable organizations throughout our community. The Challenge For Christian Unity: On this Sunday, the Christmas Season ends with our commemoration of the Baptism of the Lord. On this event, the Gospel writers see Jesus’ public ministry begin. Jesus’ mission is to act as the beloved Son of God in preaching the Kingdom – the reign of God in which all humanity would live in harmony. By His death – resurrection, Jesus has begun that reign of God. However, it needs to be completed. That is the mission now of his disciples. A good place for his disciples to start is by facing up to the issues that have created disunity among Christians. The challenge before us all is to be an instrument of Unity. One good way to start is by at least praying together. Getting to know one another can remove fears, suspicions, misunderstandings and prejudices. The annual WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY will begin next Sunday and conclude on January 24th.
Our Christian Unity Event: St. Patrick’s will host the annual Christian Unity Supper in our parish hall on Sunday, January 24th starting at 5:30 p.m. This yearly event is organized by representative from St. James Anglican, St. Mark’s United, St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox and St. Patrick’s Catholic Churches. It will be a pot luck supper and parishioners of St. Patrick’s are responsible for the main dishes. Cost for tickets is $2 and only 80 will be sold to parishioners of St. Patrick’s. They will be available after Masses in January and the parish office as long as they last. So get in there quickly to assure a spot.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Goes out to the following young parishioners; Ben Bichel, Katherine Boyce, Kaitlynd & Krista Burns, Arthur & Louis Cavallin, Kate Manarin and Victor Sabau who were able to participate in the following invitation by Brenda Cavallin (Parish Co-ordinator of Children’s Sacraments). On Dec. 29th a total of 12 doz. cup cakes and 6 doz. gingersnap cookies were baked, decorated and delivered to the Samaritan Centre. Thank you to Deb Saunders who helped set up and direct the decorating station, Arthur Cavallin who directed the Ginger Snap baking and Robert Leblanc who welcomed our youth at the Samaritan Centre and lead us in a guided tour of the facility. For most this was a first time visit to the centre and was an eye opening experience. A special thank you goes out to our parents who were able to support their children in this invitation. With their help we were also able to roll the last of the pennies allowing us to make a final deposit of $304 for the 2009 Pennies from Heaven campaign.
Quip for the Week: All eyes were on the radiant bride as her father escorted her down the aisle. They reached the altar and the waiting groom; the bride kissed her father and placed something in his hand. The guests in the front pews responded with ripples of laughter. Even the priest smiled broadly. As her father gave her away in marriage, the bride gave him back his credit card.
